Dancing On Ice: The Story of Bolero with Torvill & Dean

Exactly twenty-five years ago, Torvill and Dean took to skating on ice and brought fame to their nation, Britain. Christopher Dean speaks fondly of February 14 not only because it is the Valentine’s Day but also their Bolero day. It was on this day that both the skaters created a masterpiece on ice and went on to win the Olympic gold medal at the games. They talk of their first meeting and their hard work, which went on to help them clinch that Olympic gold.

Christopher Dean recollects how the two of them first met while he was working at the police station in Nottingham. Jayne’s former office in Nottingham has been transformed into a bar now. Jayne’s and Chris friends, colleagues, former coaches and celebrities talk about their fond memories of Bolero. Jayne and Chris return to their hometown of Nottingham to meet up with all those who helped them win the Olympic gold at the 1984 Olympic Games.

Chris and Jayne performed with perfection at the 1984 Olympics and their Bolero was something, which spectators and judges had never witnessed in Dancing on Ice history before in their lives. Such was their clocklike precision in dance steps on ice. They were rewarded with 12 perfect sixes, the first awarded in ice dancing history and led to Great Britain clinching the gold medal at the Winter Sports Olympics. The ice skating dancers claim that theirs was like the story of Romeo and Juliet, and that they performed from their souls.
