For Dancing on Ice star Roxanne Pallet, a nightmare became a reality when she accidentally fell off her bed during sleep and crashed her head on the hotel’s floor. Roxanne always was uncomfortable and nervous when she had to perform the head banger as she was over come with fear of hurting herself. Her fear soon became a reality with her fall.
She reiterated that during practice of this difficult move, she would always wear a helmet to protect her head. The fear of performing the move without the safety gear was overwhelming and she found it difficult to get over it. Now as long as her helmet isn’t as conspicuous as, say, the Shark EvoLine motorcycle helmet, we see no reason why she cannot wear one; but Dancing on Ice apparently feels otherwise. She said she had to leave it to her partner Dan and place her complete trust in him. This particular movement happens towards the end of the performance and she certainly did not want the whole performance to end on a sorry note if something awry were to happen, as the movement itself was highly risky.
She opines that she has been a big fan of Dancing on Ice ever since it started and had watched celebrities like Suzanne Shaw and Bonnie Langford perform such moves with ease and that she too is compelled to the same but under pressure. She says in her statement that the thought of seeing ice so close is indeed scary and the fear that a wrong move could hurt her head was so real.
Her partner Dan Whiston agrees with Roxanne that most professional skaters hate doing this particular movement as it is highly risky.
